CONFIDENCE

This is an issue I have unintentionally spent a great part of my twenties exploring. I have been in denial that even I was lacking in this area. However my choices have always reflected this lacking area in my life. Choices about guys I used to date, jobs and even the university I visited. I always made the safe choice. I chose the guys I knew I was better than, so they didn't expect much from me, I choose the jobs that didn't really challenge me and I choose the university I knew I would get into very easily. I am very competitive and fear failure, hence I have been always very good in most of my endeavours and have probably been the subject of envy but the only person who has always failed to realise how much I am capable of has always been me. I feel like i have been my own greatest enemy and have allowed lack of confidence from allowing me to make the best out of my opportunities. In my case, lack confidence has stemmed from being from a dysfunctional family and also moving to a new country at 13 and not feeling accepted in school, at home (stepdad) and my environment. Always feeling like there is something wrong with you. I am determined to fight this as far as I am concerned, lack of confidence and fear are crippling spirits. I intend to build more confidence by building my faith in God, educating myself more on confidence and self love and lastly doing things that I would normally be scared to do. I am determined to completely let go and be fully assured that absolutely nothing can ever make me less than anybody else.

Sticking to this fit thing

Just sharing with you guys my delicious lunch made of oven grilled fish and vegetables. Before grilling the fish, it was seasoned with salt, chilli, GINGER, thyme, fried onions, guys ginger makes a huge difference to the taste when you grill meat or fish. I also went for a run this morning with my mum and brother, it feels so good to start your day right.

Sticking to the healthy new year's resolutions

So since the beginning of the year all members of my family have challenged themselves to become a much healthier version of ourselves. We have decided to restrain consumption of the oh so delicious Nigerian cuisine to special occasions only and instead opt for more healthier but equally delicious choices for regular consumption. I believe that healthy eating doesn't have to boring and instead of starving and then gaining all the weight back on, it is better to find more sustainable ways of keeping the extra weight off forever. I have already lost 2kg without trying too hard, Lets see how long this goes!

Meal one: Joghurts, fruits and nuts for breakfast

This is an easy to make breakfast choice and fruits in season can serve as substitutes, if the fruits on this post are not available.

I promise you it tastes heavenly delicious!!

Meal two: Broccoli, grilled chicken and mushrooms

This meal was something that me and my mum unintentionally co-created. She was responsible for the chicken and Broccoli and I for the mushrooms.

Again vegetables in season or simple leafy greens can serve as substitutes for vegetables which are not readily available.

Fairy Tales still exist!

A fairy tale made in our very own Nigeria. A story resembling the plot of many Nollywood tales, a bread hawker becomes a model just by merely photobombing a photoshoot session of a famous UK rapper Tinie Tempah. Since then Olajumoke Orisanguna’s story has changed forever and she has graced the front page of a Nigerian style magazine, THISDAYSTYLE, her story has also been covered by international media such as CNN, Telegraph UK and Huffington Post UK. I see this story travelling further across borders and serving as story content for an oscar winning movie because it gives hope to the simple, that instead of being unsatisfied, we should find contentment in our simple lives, doing our best and one day something miraculous just might happen that will change our lives forever.
